Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

No. It’s a Fox… In space.

Nintendo seemingly love to drop big news out of the blue, and tonight is no different. Just an hour or so ago, Miyamoto took to X to announce an imminent Nintendo Direct on Star Fox.

Lasting just 15 minutes, the Direct showcases a completely reworked envisioning of the Nintendo 64 classic – entirely remade with brand new character models, cutscenes, voicework and visuals that make the depths of space truly pop on Switch 2.

Challenge and Battle Modes also make an appearance, with Battle Mode featuring 4v4 missions playable with friends or randoms online. Or locally via Gameshare. With multiplayer matches varying between maps, ranging from capture the flag style battles, but with cargo, or king of the hill, but with satellites, or collecting more crystals than the other team.

People will of course note this is probably the shortest Direct that Nintendo have ever released. No doubt this was spliced from a longer Direct, and released now by Nintendo, to damage control recent leaks that spread across the internet like wildfire

So with those leaks in mind, it does beg the question – with Star Fox being leaked and subsequently confirmed, does this also imply the existence of the Ocarina of Time Remake, also mentioned in those leaks?

TIME, will tell… But I think we all know the answer don’t we.

So as we look to the stars with Fox McCloud and the gang, perhaps we can expect an official reveal of the Ocarina of Time Remake, in the not-too-distant future.
