Who would’ve thought, in the year of our lord 2026, we’d be getting an announcement for new Witcher 3 DLC?

I definitely didn’t.

Songs of the Past comes to PS5, XBOX Series X/S and PC in 2027, we step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia once more… Doing what? Who knows. Well, I think we can hazard a guess that it involves monsters. Tits. And Gwent.

More info will come “late summer,” but in the meantime, CDProjektRed are hosting an anniversary livestream of Witcher 3’s second DLC, Blood and Wine – May 28th, 4pm UK time. So we’ll have to hold on for a little while longer for any info on the new DLC.

It’s worth mentioning, the Songs of the Past Expansion also shifts the minimum requirements for PC players, to make the most of more modern hardware e.g. SSDs only, Windows 11, Direct X12 etc. Though you can revert to earlier versions of the game, you won’t be able to play this Expansion.

It does beg the question though, what does this DLC mean for Witcher 4? It’s been quite some time since we had any snippets of info regarding that game.

Why now too? Supposedly this was due a soonish reveal, but was accidentally leaked ahead of time via the CDProjektRed Launcher. I imagine this DLC will perhaps explain why Witcher 4 has you playing as Ciri. Is it just me too, or is the sword sheathe she uses in the W4 footage we’ve seen, the same as the one Geralt is holding in the Songs of the Past teaser image? Sus.

Anyway, after the disaster that was the Witcher show, I’m keen for some decent Witcher content in my life. Perhaps a pint in a Tavern and game of Gwent to pass the time, while we wait for more info?
