It looks like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is getting a serious glow-up.
A short, leaked trailer for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has surfaced online, giving us an early peek at what Ubisoft has been working on, and while it’s brief (just 11 seconds), there’s actually quite a bit to unpack.
The biggest takeaway is that the visual improvements are immediately noticeable. Side-by-side comparisons between the 2013 original and this updated version show enhanced lighting, sharper detail, and tweaks to scene framing. It’s not just a straight polish job either, some sequences appear to have been reworked, including a new scoped-in shot of a ship that wasn’t part of the original cutscene. It’s a small change, but it hints at a full remake rather than a simple remaster.

Alongside the leak, there’s also a bit of potential bonus content chat floating around. One streamer may have accidentally revealed a Twitch Drops reward tied to the upcoming showcase. According to the leak, watching around 20 minutes will net players an in-game item called the “Rufino pistol.” Nothing official from Ubisoft yet, so take that with a pinch of sea salt for now.
The timing here is interesting. So much so that some people are even claiming Ubisoft has planted these leaks as a kind of publicity stunt to build hype for the official reveal. Ubisoft has already confirmed that Black Flag Resynced will be fully unveiled during a dedicated showcase on April 23, streaming across YouTube and Twitch.
Right now, Resynced is shaping up to be a reimagined version of Black Flag, with upgraded visuals and the possibility of new content layered in. Whether it’s a full remake or something closer to a deluxe remaster is still a bit unclear, but we won’t have to wait long to find out.
Stay tuned because this one could be a real treasure. Get it?
