After an endless deep sea storm of rumours, Ubisoft has officially charted a course to reveal its long-awaited remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag later this week.
The remake titled: Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will be unveiled during a live stream on 5 PM BST (UK) / 6 PM CEST (Europe) / 12 PM EDT (US East Coast) / 9 AM PDT (US West Coast).
Speculation around a return to the fan favourite has been building for quite some time, but Ubisoft finally dropped anchor on the rumours last month with an official teaser image. Now, we’re getting the full reveal.
Is that enough nautical puns?

Franchise boss Jean Guesdon leaned into the series’ iconic philosophy when addressing the leaks:
“Nothing is true. Everything is permitted… well, except in this case. Some whispers have a little more wind in their sails.”
In other words: yeah, we all knew this was coming.
Black Flag is still widely considered one of the standout entries in the Assassin’s Creed series. Originally released in 2013, Set in the West Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy (1715–1722), wait, wasn’t that 1999-2004? The game follows Welsh pirate Edward Kenway, a privateer-turned-outlaw chasing fortune and freedom. The only things standing in his way are Bartholemew Roberts and plenty of naval battles.
It’s also a key piece of the wider Assassin’s Creed timeline, connecting directly to Assassin’s Creed III through Kenway’s grandson, Connor.
Ubisoft isn’t just reviving Black Flag, the game; they’re also bringing back some of the minds behind its original conception.
Martin Schelling, Jean Guesdon, and François de Billy are now leading the Assassin’s Creed franchise at Vantage Studios, a newly formed Ubisoft subsidiary backed in part by Tencent.
For fans, that’s a promising sign. Guesdon served as creative director on both Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins, while Schelling and de Billy were producers on the original pirate adventure.

What to Expect
Ubisoft hasn’t revealed exactly what “Resynced” means yet, but expectations are already high. A visual overhaul feels like a given, but fans will be hoping for greater improvements to naval combat, world detail, and even expanded story content.
Either way, we won’t have to wait long to find out if this remake is a faithful remaster… or a full-blown reinvention.
Spyglass at the ready!
